Heyy, basically my interview was so relaxed, there was 3 people asking the questions ( 2 from cardiology and 1 from respiratory) We had a talk about the course first, then had individual interviews, I wouldn't worry though, It's the obvious questions you would normally get and also I got asked some things about my personal statement
You'll be fine!
Good luck!!

thanks so much for your help! i'm relieved to hear that it's relaxed! i haven't had any interview preparation from my school so i have no idea what normal questions are like (i originally applied for medicine and so had a practice medical interview, which was hiiiiiiideous!)! i think i might have a little browse on google xD i know it sounds silly but i was also wondering.. how formal did you have to dress?

You'll be fine, I imagine the interview is a lot less intense than medicine!! Not overly formal, I wore trousers a smart top and heels. As long as you look friendly and approachable I don't think what you wear is too important... (well obviously smart to some degree)
When you all get places on the course... don't do what i've done and leave your portfolio til last minute, trust me, it is NOT fun! Get it done the first summer holidays, then just add to it and tweak it over the second year. Currently drowning in portfolio and revision!

Oh and good luck with interviews and things, you'll love your jobs!

so which of the jobs has everyone applied to? I was silly and missed out on the sheffield one because it didn't look as though it was for our course :frown: and airedale doesn't seem to have appeared on nhs jobs yet. Just wondering how everyone else is getting on with it all? I havent heard back from any yet.. but then i guess there has been quite a few bank hols recently

They haven't all been up yet have they? Oh god, I hope I haven't missed any! :frown: I haven't heard anything back yet either

When you say the Sheffield one, do you mean the one that wasn't specifically for cardiac physiology, said you would study at either Leeds or DMU and was inviting applications from everyone, not just successful applicants to the BSc? I didn't think that was the Sheffield one either! Are you sure it was? If so, thats definitely one I've missed so far :frown:

Yeah that's the sheffield one I meant  I'm not sure if it was one to be honest, but one hasn't appeared for sheffield since so maybe it was.
So far i've applied to leeds, york, wakefield, huddersfield and bradford. I saw Grimsby was up but i didn't apply for that one.
I'm worried that i've missed some because the list we got sent had lots on, but not all have come up :frown:
Which ones have you applied to so far?

I didn't see the York or Bradford ones :frown: I've definitely not been getting emails for them all, even though I signed up for notifications! Were they listed as something strange? I can't believe I've missed some... I've applied for Leeds, Wakefield, Calderdale (is this the Huddersfield one you mean?) and Grimsby - these are all of the ones (except the Sheffield one, which I really hope wasn't the one we were meant to apply for because then I've missed another) that I've seen and I only saw the Grimsby one today based on your post, because I panicked that I was missing some and searched for other things and it came up :frown: I'm pretty depressed now!

So, so far there has been:

Leeds
Wakefield
Calderdale
Grimsby
Scunthorpe (missed by me)
York (missed by me)
Bradford (missed by me)
And possibly Sheffield...

I was planning on applying for all of them but doesn't look like that will be possible... they're never up on the website for very long and I can't see any of the ones that I've missed any more :frown: now I'm worrying that they've all been and I just haven't seen any of the others either.

I was thinking the same thing. I have applied for :

Bradford
Leeds
Calderdale/Huddersfield
Wakefield
York

I haven't heard back from any of them yet, but I also thought there would be more jobs posted by now :s-smilie: I was planning on arranging visits to some of the Hospitals before the 2nd June, but wanted to hear back first!

I was also wondering if anyone had any idea as to what kind of things we will be asked at the interviews? Do you think it will be similar to the University one or are they looking for different things?? It's all so scary, ahhhh!!

I would imagine it will be a little more in depth than the Uni interview, so possibly a little on our knowledge of the heart (though still fairly simple I would imagine) and what qualities/experience we have.
Some of the hospitals have already shortlisted which applicants they want to interview, so we might hear soon. However, they might wait until all of the posts have closed before they contact us and not all of them have been advertised yet.

I contacted some of them by email and this is what York told me, so I would assume it is the same for all of them.

Ah right okay  so have you managed to apply for york now then even though you missed it on the website?
Also, have you applied for accommodation yet? I still haven't done finance either  i need to get that done because the deadline is soon :s

Some of them were ok and really helpfull about it, unfortunately York wouldn't let me as they had already shortlisted :frown: my own fault really for not thinking of checking every possible thing on NHS Jobs rather than thinking they would all come up with the keywords "trainee physiologist". I applied for accommodation a few weeks ago but it's not first come first served, so there's no massive rush as long as you meet the deadline (I think this is July 1st but worth checking!) - I will only take up the offer for halls if I end up with a placement pretty close to Leeds though, otherwise the travelling will probably be too much... have to wait and see! I really hope I'll manage that though as I think it will be difficult to socialise if I have to live away in private accommodation. I did finance recently but only the basic maintenance loan for us (if you want it) - can't apply for NHS bursaries until May and I don't think we qualify for them because we have a paid position.

That's dead nice of some of the hospitals then  they obviously thought you sounded keen.
I think i'm just going to put up with the travelling to be honest because I really don't want to miss out on the uni life  But then maybe in years 2/3/4 i'll get a place near my hospital, but i guess it just depends who I become friends with and all that. If only we could all be at leeds hospital eh! Yeah i doubt we'd qualify for an NHS bursary, sooooo happy that we're going to leave uni debt free and completely qualified for the job!

I think that's the best option too but it would be horrible to have 4 hours of driving 3 times a week :s-smilie: as you say, it would only have to be the first year and it's not that bad to be able to do the course! It would be fantastic if we could all work at Leeds hospital  so much simpler! I know, it's a great opportunity! People can't quite believe it when I tell them!
Has everyone else started to hear back from places?
Yes  Heard from Leeds today and from Wakefield, York and Bradford a few days ago.

Anyone else??
