How to accept an offer on eBay for an item on auction

Hi there, I've Put a ps3 on auction for £30 with a buy it now of £50. Someone has offered me £40 for it which seems reasonable but I don't think there is an option to take it? What should I do?

It's faulty lol
I'm pretty sure if you choose the auction option, the auction has to finish. So the buy it now option should now not be applicable if the person offering £40 has bid. Apologies if it's changed but that's how I remember it.

Oh right, but I'm sure you can still get a bit more than just £40...

It's the most expensive one on eBay though, so I don't want to push it too high, might ask for £45

Once you've put up an auction you can't cancel it unless in certain circumstances (i.e. it was a mistake, basically).

What you can do is ask him to put a bid in for £40 and end the auction early, with the item going to the highest bidder.

See this page for some guidance on how to do so: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/end_early.html

Or he can buy it now and you can send him the payment details (on ebay) and give him a discount of £10 so effectively he's only paying £40.
