Calculating HND final grade

I've been looking up how to work out my final HND grade from all my separate grade units, as my college didn't send me (or the majority of my classmates) one.

From what I gather, I've got a distinction overall, however is there someone who knows what they're talking about when it comes to working out grades, and could double check for me?

I got 4 distinctions, 6 merits, and 6 passes, and each unit is worth 15 credits, with the distinctions being a value of 2, the merits being a value of 1 and the passes being a value of zero.

To achieve a distinction you need to have 150 points overall, and by doing what my specification says and multiplying your unit credit by your grade points, then adding these numbers altogether, I've ended up with 210.

Yes, I too am facing the same problem on an overall grade. I have 10M,3D,3P for my HND which according to Appendix 2 of the HN briefing should be a distinction. [It adds up to about 240 points] but apparently this isn't the method some Universities use to evaluate an HNDs overall grade.

I do know the HND grading system can be somewhat complex. Unlike the BTEC Level 3 National Diploma HNDs do not have a consistent way of evaluating Overall Grading. In fact it says that an Overall Grading is not applicable for HND in Page 6 of this document:

Most of the UK Universities that Ive corresponded with have said that the overall grading [P/M or D] is the grade type you have the highest number in. For example in my case It would be an overall Merit as the majority of my 16 modules have merit grades. basically its the grade that's seen the most on your transcript.[based on this they call it a Merit Profile/Distinction profile] There is evidence for this grading system here; its stated in the last part of Page 4 in this document:
