How do zoos get medical treatment for sick animals? I can't imagine things like sugar gliders are immensely well-studied: who do you call when you get a sick sugar glider, or meerkat? Or something stranger?

Depends on the zoo, some have specialist zoo vets. Some use a local practice who have a special interest in it.
You can get diplomas etc in exotic medicine even then drug doses is a guessing game and you tend to go (I believe) by species similarity. E.g. A rhino is an equid, so you use similar drug dosing as you would a horse.

Who knows about sugar gliders though
I don't know, for some reason I thought things like rhinos and other "popular" animals would be really well-studied and have dedicated specialists and guidelines. No guessing required
Was reading Zoobiquity - was about a NY cardiologist who was called out to help treat a gorilla in CHF and thus got introduced into the world of veterinary medicine; thought that was really cool!

They're more studied but that doesnt mean extensively Stuff like GAs are but not much else

Might have to give it a read
It's surprising tbh, given the huge amount of conservation effort into those sorts of animals! Anthropocentrism to the max.
I wouldn't recommend it, tbh. It was okay, but doesn't really focus on the interesting bit (an MD working in veterinary medicine), but instead focuses on the straw-grabbing parallels between human and animal disease. Takotsubo's cardiomyopathy is kind of like capture myopathy; animals get fat too; evolutionary explanation of vasovagal syncope in humans; lots of hypothetical analogues between human and animal psychology. Not worth it!
Back at uni, will see how much swimming I can do as I'll be reliant on a lift.
Might start doing some lifting again, being a full blown bro. No leg day ever
Pendlay rows, Bench, press, pull ups, curls, facepulls and dips
Shouldn't be too hard on knee or compression of back
Will see what the next week or so holds
Currently in doctors surgery about referral for knee
I'm going to be posting #yeswecan (from Scoobies post in Rybs thread) at the end of posts in the fitness forum, as an experiment to see 1) how many people it confuses and 2) how many copy cat
Sounds pretty similar to what I was doing when I did my ankle, I'd say you'll probably be fine. (Don't know about rows, never really done them so not sure how they'll effect your back) Could work that into a push/pull split. Or if you came up with some more accessory work you could do body parts? Arms/chest/ shoulders and back? #yeswecan
Bench 20kg 1 x 5 30kg 1 x 5 40kg 1 x 5 60kg 1 x 5 paused 70kg 2 x 5 paused 80kg 1 x 3 paused 80kg 1 x 2 paused 30 sec rest then - 70kg 1 x 5 paused and then normal rest break 1 x 5
AMRAP 60kg 1 x 9 paused
Still got a body weight bench, still got a valid opinion
Pull ups 1 x 8 1 x 7 1 x 6 Chin ups 1 x 5
Facepulls level 4 1 x 10 level 5 1 x 7 level 4 1 x 8
Dips 1 x 8
DB over head extension 17.5kg 1 x 10 20kg 1 x 10 1 x 8
Curlz 10kg 1 x 10 12.5kg 1 x 10 1 x 8 Easy tbh
Lots of teaching gf to lift mk 2. She might just be the most inflexible person on the planet. Not helped by short shins and long femurs lol. She might finally listen and start stretching routinely Powerlifting friend who helped a lot teaching, was stunned by her inflexibility
