I'm not into clubbing, would I fit in?

As the title suggests I'm not really into clubbing, in fact I'm teetotal. I know Newcastle has something of a reputation and whilst the university itself may deny it, no doubt it would attract the kind of students who do like clubbing, purely because of it's reputation. I'm not a fuddy-duddy and I'll happily be with people who do drink, but I just don't like clubbing, so alternative nightlife would be great! You know; quieter pubs, social things etc.

I suppose my question is really 'Is there enough going on for someone like me, and enough people who perhaps aren't as keen on going clubbing that I could socialise with in the evenings.' The thought of being in a larger city appeals to me, but not if I've got no friends! I'm looking at York as a competitor and obviously the campus environment makes it a little bit tamer, but I thought I'd at least try to extract some information from other sources before coming to a decision on this aspect of the unis.

I've firmed Newcastle and I would choose a quiet night in a pub in a group of good friends, as opposed to a club where your chances of getting stabbed or drugged are higher than in a HMP. What course are you applying for btw?

Cool, it's a pity that students are randomly allocated to the accommodation there, I've heard that some other universities actually make you do a 'personality quiz' and allocate people according to their answers.

I'm applying for Computer Science, so I'm sure there'll be plenty of folks on the course who aren't into clubbing because it's the kind of course that attracts hard workers and social outcasts like me! Obviously, you've no idea who'll end up with you in accommodation and anyway I'd like to get to know people from a range of disciplines.

I've got the Tea Society earmarked because I'm so unashamedly British so I'm sure there'll be some people to meet there too!

Yep, more universities should do that. So far I can only remember such thing being in Exeter.

York, Edinburgh, Leeds, ICL and Cambridge have it too.

I'll look into Real Ale, but I'm teetotal because of the taste (I'm too sensitive for the manly stuff! Dyspraxia's stolen that one from me.) so I don't know if I'd interface with the beverage that well!

I think I'm gonna struggle (tee-total as well) but I'll try my best to fit in. Usually i get along with everyone fairly well, hopefully no bumps on the way. BTW who got an offer for Comp Sci for Newcastle yet? Conditional or unconditional? And what was the grade offer?
