Posting Nudes is BAD

I'm mildly annoyed by the fact that there is the occasional topic, of a person sending pictures of themselves nude and later on get worried it has been misused. Regardless of age, sending nudes normally is a very bad idea because

1. You can never always trust someone that they'll keep it private- this 'trust' is the reason why people blindly send nudes of themselves, and then the person shares it with others

2. Even if you trust the person, there is always the looming possiblity of hackers and malicious software that could get hold of these. This can put you in a very embarrasing and troublesome predicament

3. For most of us, it would not look pretty if someone stumbled across them off-chance

While I understand people have intimate relationships, really the ideal way is to actually be with them (if you or your partner is that desperate to see nudes). That way, they have nothing compromising on you and it will be a bit more dignified. Just dont post nudes, because it can take a dark turn fast

Most people are sensible with nudity by not including their face in the shot. If they did, I have no sympathy for them

Fair point, but if the recipient knows the sender, it could be potentially equally damning

I agree. I have seen 2 threads since 5pm today with people contemplating sending nudes for money, and one who has sent nudes. Regardless of age, its still dangerous especially if theyre to random people

i agree, i don't trust anyone and i've often heard of boys sharing photos of their girlfriend with their friends, like it's some kind of trophy. plus 99 percent of relationships will end at some point. what happens to the nudes then? so not worth it imho.

As a person, who has heard close cases of these incidents happening, it disgusts me on how freely some can inflict irreperable harm on someone whom they trusted

Ah sorry OP

Who did you send nudes to that spread them?

No one- it was from an observation

I'm doing my MSc dissertation on Revenge Porn and some of the comments in this thread are just victim blaming at its finest.
Don't be stupid, don't send nudes, thread over.

Don't blame McDonald's for your getting fat, is all I can say. Btw, what type of MSc are you on that you get to study revenge porn?

Well that is outside the box- interesting on what you conclude to. Ofc it seems you can use some of the stuff here
Many people are so damn gullible and then they send them and then the person f's them over. Don't fall for any lines or smooth talk it isn't worth the shame of having your nude photos all over the place.

I'm doing an MSc in Criminal Justice and Criminology, though, Revenge Porn could cross barriers into other areas like Law (with regards to the Upskirting Bill that is very current at the moment), Psychology (if you consider the effects on victims) or even Forensic Psychology (if you looked at perpetrator motivations or characteristics).
Well yeah, it's a stupid thing to do.

I agree. My boyfriend occasionally asks if I would send nudes but I always say no. I trust him completely and I know he wouldn't even save them, but it's the thought of being hacked or some software like you mentioned getting them. I just don't want that possibility so I don't create that possibility.

Each to their own but I just don't see why people would send nudes especially to total strangers.

Is it legal-ish, then? Or is it more socio-legal, how to deter and manager offenders? I have a slight interest in SOA2003 from a legal POV, so it is interesting to see how you might go about the disso.

Spoiler

Some people enjoy the risk; as in they know they shouldn't but in that moment they wanna do something "cheeky". Inevitably results in the "will you please delete that" about 30 mins later when the O high has subsided and they're sober again.

Exactly, and you can't really trust when someone says "yep it's deleted".
