Write a Poem about the Future!

It's competition time!

January is a time of year when we're often looking ahead to what's coming up in the next year, or the next few years.

So, here's an opportunity to channel your creativity and win a prize!:rave:

Write a poem vaguely about the future, it doesn't have to be about you, it could be about someone or something, it could be about aspirations, hopes, fears to do with the future. Just make it your own.:yep:

If you're struggling, or can't think of anything then just share a poem that you like from somebody else (and make sure to give them credit).

The competition will close on Sunday 2nd February, and the winner announced (by me) shortly after.

The prize is a handsome 250 rep points for the winner, and a cool 100 rep points for the runner up! :awesome:

there was a young lady called Becca
who thought she could run the exchecca;
her Stalinist views
did not fill the pews
and she lost to some funny haired fecca

Ah I see.
This is a great excuse for me to get writing again. I used to write (poems, songs, fanfics, short stories) quite a bit, but there's been a tapering effect as I've got older.

Further development
Universal betterment
Theoretically
Undoubtedly not a reality
Remember these cries
Eventually everything dies

In the future
All the kids will want to go on an adventure
But the robots will stay at home and do the cleaning
And they will do it with some meaning
Everyone will be into virtual reality
Where they will have a degree.
Is it a rapper?
where the past may not matter?
where life is dapper :moon:
Twenty-twenty’s started off pretty weirdly,
It’s the opening scene of a disaster movie,
But that’s ok.
It’s gonna be, you and me against the world,
Riding on bicycles, carrying guns, banners furled,
Scrapping it out for that last jar of peanut butter,
Or whatever.

I guess I always knew this was coming,
Always lived with this weird expectation,
A secret in the darkest part of my heart,
Knowing that everything would one day fall apart.
It’s why I don’t get attached to things or stuff,
Just always running, staying tough,
Trying to see as much as I possibly can,
Before it disappears and that’s that.

I always felt like I never fit,
Screaming at society, it’s a cage I’m in,
I’ve always been ready to eat the rich,
Always been ready to pull the pin,
Do you hear what I’m saying?

And yeah, maybe, we should be fighting,
But I’m tired of screaming and screaming,
When nobody is listening.
Anyone who could change anything,
Is busy.
Diversifying their portfolios
Or buying up property in New Zealand.

But it’s alright,
I’ve got this covered,
Always wanted my life to be like a story,
Even if it ends up being more World War Z,
And less The Great Gatsby.

We’re going on an adventure. Jump in.
They say that children are the future
But I'm not so sure they are
I've asked around
And yet so far
Not one has a flying car!

Sorry I didn't get round to this one, but I already have some love/relationships-based writings so I should be able to get something in for that one! Hopefully they won't be too angsty though....
Thank you. Does anyone know any other competitions that are on the TSR at the moment?
Twinkle twinkle little future
You need loads more than a suture
Will we set the world on fire
Either way it looks quite dire
Twinkle twinkle little future
You got yourself a big fracture
