Lowering predicted grades

I saw my predicted grades and references today - all pretty good, three A*s in maths, chemistry and physics and an A in biology. This was with my personal tutor, who told me it would be wise to get one of them lowered to an A as this would get me a lower offer (he was particularly speaking about Oxbridge). He said that it would be better to have a lower offer in case I didn't make the grades for a higher one.
Would this not affect my chances of an offer in the first place too much? I'm not sure to what extent prestigious universities are lenient when accepting grades that fall just under the offer.
What do you think?

Unis will generally give their typical offer - that's why it's a typical offer. Your predicted grades won't change that.
Definitely not a good idea. Especially not if applying to Oxbridge.
