What does it mean to steer with your eyes?

I had my 1st lesson today, I was in a open car park and my instructor kept saying it. I know what she means, look where I want the car to go.

The problem is how can I use my eyes to communicate with my arms. I just can't find the connection.

Also I don't understand how much the steering wheel effects the amount the car turns. E.G. how much does the wheels turn with a full turn on the steering wheel.

HELP, how did others overcome this problem?
It just comes with experience.
Your body naturally wants to go in the direction your looking, it's known as target fixation and is a pretty common cause of RTAs.
I think she means look as far ahead into the road as you can see because it makes your brain prepared for what's ahead of you then you'll naturally steer towards what's ahead. Although I haven't done much steering myself yet
