what if student finance replies late?

my application is with student finance currently as they keep asking for more evidence even tho i have sent everything. They now said they will get back to me by 2nd September. Lets say they take more time and pass the start of uni date. what happens?
what will university do? will they defer my entry or what?

You need to talk to the uni. They won't defer your entry though unless you ask.
