Most likely because the single person was complaining that they couldn't get a girlfriend and the person didn't know what to say.
Otherwise I sympathise, not being attractive is not particularly fun

Stop looking for a gf and focus on yourself. When you're happy with life and feel good, you'll find talking to and getting girls much more easier. They get drawn to you, so less work for you.
Plus people who are desperate for hoes tend to be dead to talk to for girls, just be natural.
