Definitely send an email now before they start allocating all other undergraduates their accommodation (or phone as it's quicker). There are many single sex flats in Endcliffe and Sheffield are generally very good at sorting things out

Thank you so much! I will ASAP

Hi, may I ask how you found out about your accommodation? I still haven't received anything from Sheffield and I applied for flats the 25th of June...I'm so anxious to find out where I have been placed honestly, it's killing me.

You normally have to wait for results day (tomorrow) and then it should be soon after that. Most are the same/next day but it can be anything up to 4 days after. Any longer than that and I would give them a ring.

Does anyone know the most quite accommodation at the University of Sheffield?
Preferably at the Ranmoor/Endcliffe site.

Ranmoor's quieter than Endcliffe (I moved out of Endcliffe last month).

Endcliffe's better if you're looking to go out a lot, there's usually a lot of flat parties in first semester, when everyone's meeting each other.

Congratulations on getting in everyone! Sheffield's awesome :h:

I think I'll write an email asking for single-sex. I'm a little uncomfortable with mixed sex in my first year, and no matter what anyone thinks, I'll have to spend a year there. My comfort is most important to me. I was still alright with having it scattered, but I draw the line at sharing bathrooms. There's no way I'm comfortable doing that with guys who are not my s.o/father/brother.

Do you think they can allot me a single sex hall? I mean, there'd be a lot of people who'd prefer mixed but are allotted single right? Could something be sorted out before I go there, in your personal opinion?

Like other people said, call now. A level results day is tomorrow so a lot more rooms will start be allocated for good from tomorrow. Chances are they've got a few people who applied for mixed but got single so you should be in a good situation to get move over.

Okay, so I may have been panicking for nothing because during my application, there was a question "Do you require single sex accommodation?" to which I clicked "yes." Would that mean I got allotted single?

The reason I thought I might have been allotted mixed is that I met a girl allotted my flat, and she said she didn't tick "yes" for single-sex. Which meant she didn't opt for single.

Does Endcliffe have more mixed or single flats? Looking at the above situation, do you think I may have been allotted single? Or mixed? I'm going to write a confirmation email anyways, but, thoughts?

Yes you probably would've got single if you ticked it. Opting for single is like opting out of mixed whereas mixed leaves you open to single too. It should say which one it is on your accommodation offer however.

If you're waiting for results then you'll find out very soon after! I'm sure it was the day after for me

Hmm, alright. The thing is, I took the IB and the uni received my results around early July...but I guess I don't mind waiting a little more haha. Will probably email them if I don't receive anything from them in two days time.

i would call them up ASAP if that's the case, it seems pretty odd that you haven't received anything yet.
Hi, does anyone know if the Allen Court accomodation uses induction hobs or not? Just bought pots and pans and realised they might be no good :/
Does anyone know if Stephenson Hall South wing is single sex?

I lived in Stephenson a few years ago, albeit A-G rather than SW but Stephenson is very social and you'll likely end up in every flat at one time or another. Most of SW is single, but I think there are a few mixed flats on the laundry side. I can't completely remember whether they were actually mixed flats or there just wasn't any security between the floors so people happily socialised with other floors/flats.
I've been placed in the city :frown: I was hoping Endcliffe or Ranmoor so I think I'll ask to see if I can change accomodation.
Hello! I'm trying to find a replacement tenant for my Sheffield 3 room (standard plus ensuite). It's a 10 min walk away from the uni and the contract is from 16th Sept 2017 - 21st July 2018. £5280 for the entire duration. (Cheaper than uni ensuite and, a bigger room)

(I'll also give you £300 if you're kind enough to take over my contract) 🙂Message me if you're interested!

Hey!.. If you don't mind me asking, which flat did you get?... And how was it living there. Well I am an Indian too so I thought i may ask you.

Hey! I stayed in Allen court, it was pretty good, plenty of space, really good facilities and staff. Hopefully if you decided to stay, you'd be placed with some really good flatmates, and if not, you have a period of time to move to a different room anyway. Personally I enjoyed it, the common room is pretty good, they have a PS4 so if you feel like bringing some games, you'd have no problem playing them 😁 there's also a pool table, ping pong and stuff like that, and occasionally they'd hold mini tournaments..watch out for residence life events too! There's also a TV in our kitchen, so a lot of Netflix binge watching happens 😁
Only thing is, you may sometimes want to bring ear plugs, sometimes it can be a little noisy, but in any student accommodation, I'm sure that's to be expected! Hope this helps, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask 😁
Oh and as for guests...they don't care, you can bring who you like...just as long as they're not too disruptive, it's fine
