Any British student would simply have laced the yoghurt with a tasteless emetic and awaited the result. No need for the police at all.

Nice! I'd suggest the UK adopt a similarly hardline approach but then there'd be a wave of false accusations. Luckily my flatmates are too meek and easily intimidated to steal anything that belongs to me

Try not stealing your flatmates food. Im sure it helps.
Should have just replaced the yoghurt with duck fat mixed with arrowroot powder. That teaches them a lesson.

My friend once took an apple from the fruit basket without asking, psh she ate that apple like what she did was rational. Too the dungeons with these food stealers!
