Year 12s: what will be the first way you research your future options? >>

Would Criminology and Film and TV studies be a good degree?

What would the advantages and disadvantages be to studying these as a joint honours? I have a strong interest in both and set on wanting to study a joint honours.

with family in this industry there seems to be a much stronger emphasis on having the skills and just working your way up. If you can be a runner on film shoots/music videos etc for a few months, get to know people, become 2nd assistant director and all that, and if you're good at it, you can end up being quite successful.
Although it could be that having a degree as well as this experience sets you apart but the experience really is the key part. Go to a uni that is really strong in this area - it may be completely unknown to everyone else but if it is respected in the film industry, that will always give a bit of a leg-up.

The other thing would be what are you wanting to be in the future - a criminologist or in tv production. Could you do one as a minor so as to get the most opportunities in the other area?

If you love these areas of study then absolutely go for it as enthusiasm can go a very long way.
