Working, uni and universal credit

So I'm just wondering as a single mum if I get a part time job while I get the maintenance loan and a small amount of uc will it mess up my uc? I was told it comes from a different part of uc so I could still earn upto £293 a month and it won't effect any money that I get at present? Has anyone done this and there money has stayed the same? I'm only looking to top myself up as after paying all my bills rent an food I'm currently left with 18.50 a month so I'm sinking...any help would be appreciated.

when I'd applied for university I was told by Universal credit that once my course started I'd no longer be entitled to universal credit. I don't know if it's much help but just though I would let you know. As for working it can only be like weekend / part-time work otherwise it may effect your maintence loan too.
