UCAS extra

Ok so I need some help with deciding what to do with UCAS extra. I have an offer from york and i want to keep that as my insurance, but I don't currently have a firm as I have been rejected from other unis but I am still waiting for Durham. As it is unlikely I am going to get into Durham, I want to withdraw, leaving me with an extra option for a uni. So, can I use this extra option through UCAS extra AND keep york as my insurance, as I don't want to withdraw from York as well.
No, you can’t do this. If you use Extra you’ll have to decline any current offers, and then can only accept//decline one offer at a time through Extra. This means that at the end of Extra you’ll either have a Firm and no insurance, or you’ll be in clearing.

You could always ask York if they expect to be in clearing, or whether they’d honour the previous offer via Extra if things don’t shake out.
