Local Animal Shelter Application

Hi, I'm currently in year 11 doing GCSEs and want to volunteer in a local animal shelter over the summer (I don't want to become a vet, it's just for fun and the experience).This may seem like a stupid question, but what do I need to say when applying to the shelter and asking if they want to take me as a volunteer? Do I need to be formal/ does the application need to be long/ do I need to attach a cv etc?Thanks

a simple email is fine - mention your experience with animals (if any), availability, any useful skills like first aid qualification, how long you want to volunteer your time for, maybe mention your school if it is nearby.
