Medicine Gap Year??

I am a Year 12 A-Level student who is currently studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths A-levels. I am planning on studying Medicine next year and my top choices for universities are Imperial and UCL. I am sitting mocks next week and I know that my predicted grades will not be good. I'm sure I'll be getting B's and C's. This isn't my fault though as I've missed so much learning due to my teachers not being in school and missing out on content. I know for certain I can achieve A*'ss and A's in my actual exams. My only options now is to take a gap year or study abroad. If anyone has gone down the route of taking a gap year, can you please let me know what you did and if you were still able to get into a top Russell group university please!

To my mind sometimes taking gap year is the best way even if you pass your exams with flying colors. This way you could rest and refresh your mind before putting 100% of your effort while studying in university. You could for example focus on self-development and get some experience working. I'm planning on retaking my exams next years as I'm almost sure it won't be enough for med school I chose [I'm 1 month after finals in my country]. I would advise you to go for a gap year rather than study abroad, but that's just my opinion, do what you think is beneficial. Nevertheless, good luck!
