hi thank you for the suggestion however most of the university that are listed i have contacted them and they don't consider my qualification even when my predicated grade down are D*D*D, so do you know people that have gone into optometry solely having a Btec applied science extended diploma qualification without an additional a level?
I don't sorry. You would need to consider taking an additional A level next year or finding a foundation course.

Thank you for your help but I do believe there are some places that may accept btec e.g University of the West of England which is located in Bristol

Maybe look at orthoptics? Like an optometrist they are specialised in the eyes however they have like a responsibility of seeing how the eyes work together and how the brain is involved. The difference from optometry is that in optometry they are responsible for conducting an eye exam. I think the unis allow applied science. I would recommend looking at it

If unis state that they will accept Access to HE Diplomas in the Entry Requirements section on the course page of their websites, then they will give your application equal consideration as those with other qualifications.

Hi,

Plymouth, UWE Bristol and Teesside accept BTEC Level 3 Applied Science on its own. Aston, Manchester, City and Hertfordshire accept BTEC Level 3 in Applied science PLUS 1 A level. Hope that helps .

No, you would not be able to get into Optometry at Manchester with a BTEC course on its own. You would need BTEC Level 3 in Applied Science DDD with an A level alongside it at grade A. If you are eligible for a contextual offer this will reduce to DMM with an A at A-level. EPQ helps only if you narrowly miss your grade but they do not consider it as a qualification so they do encourage you to talk about it and mention that you have done an EPQ. Hope that helps 🙂
