reasons for interest in dissertation topic

hello!
i'm doing my dissertation on representations of stammering in films. I've chosen this because I have a stammer and I know in the introduction I need to say the reasons for choosing my topic but i'm unsure if it's too personal to include this as a reason? i don't have a supervisor anymore cuz i deffered over the summer so i can't ask anyone from my uni lol.

I think you should find a way to weave it into your introduction, as you will be likely to bring your own experience into how you analyse the films you case-study. It would be interesting to reflect upon how this might impact on your choice of methodology.
As researchers, we have to be aware of how things like personal experience can bring in bias to our research but how it can bring greater depth and insight.
