MSc Occupational Therapy (pre registration) - relevant degree

My daughter is hoping to apply to this course after her degree. She's currently doing a Psychology degree (just finished first year). She wants to change to a BA joint honours in Psychology and Philosophy, but she needs to know whether this would qualify as a relevant degree for the MSc OT. Please could you advise?

It should be, since any degree with at least 50% content in psychology should be relevant.

Having said that, it's more prudent to check the entry requirements for the specific course that she would like to enroll for.

The following degree courses would accept her degree and application so long she meets the other requirements:
https://www.cumbria.ac.uk/study/courses/postgraduate/occupational-therapy/
https://www.essex.ac.uk/courses/pg00697/1/msc-occupational-therapy-pre-registration

https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/msc-occupational-therapy-pre-registration
https://www.aru.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/occupational-therapy#entry_requirements
https://www.brookes.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/occupational-therapy-pre-registration
https://www.gcu.ac.uk/study/courses/postgraduate-occupational-therapy-pre-registration-glasgow#entry-requirements
https://www.southampton.ac.uk/courses/occupational-therapy-pre-registration-masters-msc#entry
https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/taught/courses/course/pre-registration-occupational-therapy-msc-full-time-2-years
https://www.brighton.ac.uk/courses/study/occupational-therapy-pre-reg-msc-pgcert-pgdip.aspx
https://www.winchester.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/courses/msc-occupational-therapy-pre-registration/

https://www.shu.ac.uk/courses/occupational-therapy/msc-occupational-therapy-preregistration/full-time/2023

The following are borderline, and she would need to check with postgrad admissions of the life science/psychology department:
https://www.sgul.ac.uk/study/courses/occupational-therapy-pre-registration#entry-criteria
https://www.lincoln.ac.uk/course/ocuocums/

https://www.yorksj.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/occupational-therapy/occupational-therapy-pre-registration-msc/
https://www.napier.ac.uk/courses/msc-occupational-therapy-postgraduate-fulltime

She would not be eligible for the following:
https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/taught/courses/course/occupational-therapy-msc

Whenever it's not clear, she should really go and contact the postgrad admissions personnel of the department or school the course is taught at within the specific university.

Note, whatever the degree she chooses to do, it needs to be accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council and Royal College of Occupational Therapists. See:

A degree that is not accredited by the HCPC is not going to help.

Hi there,

Here at the University of Central Lancashire we offer MSc Occupational Therapy (Pre-registration) course. It is accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT). After graduating from this course your daughter will be in a position to apply for initial registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She will also be able to apply for full membership of the British Association of Occupational Therapists and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists.

For further information about the course including entry requirements, please refer to our website MSc Occupational Therapy (Pre-registration) If your daughter has any specific enquiries regarding the course, I would recommend her to get in touch with our post graduate admissions team at [email protected]

Best wishes,
Sophia
