How to create a copyright free logo

So I'm planning to start a company soon I have an idea for a logo and have created one using canva however I'm not sure if the images and elements I used are royalty free. Regardless I want to pay a professional to take my design and make it better but how can I know if the logo they create for me is copyright free meaning I can copyright it for my brand and it's not using other people's work that I'm not allowed to use? And how can I copyright my logo?

logos are covered by trademark (not copyright. slightly different). if you want to know if another company has already trademarked it you do a search on gov.uk. it's free but not sure how user friendly it is.

bear in mind, this will only check for trademarkes in the uk and not the us or eu.

gov.uk you can also apply to register your trademark for a fee; the office then checks to see if it resembles any current trademarks before approval.
