Medicine GEM

Hi,

I am thinking of applying to graduate entry medicine 2023. I am most likely going to get a 2:1 at the end of my degree in Biological Sciences. I only want to apply to universities which do not take into account A levels. I am also planning on taking my UCAT in september.
The experience I have is:
- HCA
- BSMS online experience
- Shadowed a GP for 1 week
- Work Experience in a hospice for 3 days

Do you think I will be able to apply this year to graduate medicine and what universities would you recommend. Another question is what UCAT score should I aim to get.

Thank you! Sorry for lots of questions

Hey there,

Statistically speaking Warwick offers the largest number of places for GEM so it is likely with the combination of experience and grades that you be offered an interview. However this will also be dependent on your UCAT score. With regards to other medical schools if you have a really good UCAT score it honestly really depends on where you would like to go.

A few other things to take into account are the following:

- city v.s. campus uni
- course structure for medicine: integrated, PBL, CBL, traditional
- distance from home: how often do you think you'll want to go home and how much will it cost you
- city: how big; what is there to do; transport links
- societies: both medical and non-medical
- placement hospitals (although remember once you graduate you can apply to go anywhere)
- size of medical school
