How many hours of independent study for (aerospace) engineering weekly?
I will be starting the Aeronautics and Astronautics engineering course at Southampton Uni this September and I was just wondering if anyone knew how many hours of independent study was expected per week? Also what are contact hours like? Doesn't have to be Southampton specifically just want a general idea of what to expect for engineering as I know it will probably be intense. Thanks
It’s hard to quantify this as the volume of work varies week to week, but id say as a loose rule for every hour of contact time you’ll need another hour in your spare time.
Generally you’ll have weeks with very little required additional study & then some crunch weeks at the end of semester where you’ll be committing a lot of hours (with probably some late nights)
