new sixth form

i only just started sixth form but i didn’t stay at my old high school and now i don’t know if i made the right choice by leaving. i dont have any friends at my new school and although i do kind of like this sort of quiet life i do feel kind of lonely. i am still in contact with many of my friends from my old school so i’m not completely alone but it’s especially in my school and its worse seeing everyone socialise in big groups meanwhile i still have no friends but maybe i’m being dramatic since its still early in the year, i’m just scared that people will already be in friend groups and may not be very welcome to new people idk

hi there! (:

year 13 here, and i was in the exact same position you are in but last year. my highschool didn’t have a sixth form and honestly, even if it did, i still would’ve left lmao. i chose to go to an entire new sixth form, even though i knew that there were going to be people who have known each other since they were kids, and the first few days were hard i won’t lie. the people there weren’t very appreciative of a new person trying to fit into 5-years worth of friend groups so i was kind of the odd one out. i don’t know how long you’ve started at ur new sixth form, but for me it took less than 6 days to finally fit into a little group. they can’t ignore you forever, ykwim. at some point, they’ll get used to ur presence and they’ll want to get to know u. but, i definitely will say that if it takes more than a week and you’re still not settled, 100% leave. do not put yourself through those 2 years alone. it’s not worth it. <3

Keep working at making new friends, eventually you will get there.
I stayed at my secondary schools 6th form. There were 3 schools worth of people in the 6th form (my school plus 2 others) and although people seemed to already know each other from their previous schools, people did end up mixing in and making friends.
