LSE Accounting and finance

For any students who got an offer from LSE Accounting and Finance, I was just wondering what are your predicted grades? (Because I have an A*AA with an A* in Biology and A for math and economics).

About half of all BSc Accounting & Finance LSE applicants are predicted A*A*A or A*A*A. So you still have a great chance. More importantly, LSE consider your UCAS Personal Statement as a huge factor too. So work hard on your Personal Statement, as it will be looked at by the admissions tutors.

PS: Your grades are fine, just work hard in Maths, as so many students miss their offer each year by getting a B in Maths. :frown:

Yes I did, wasn’t too surprised as my ps wasn’t tailored to the course as I applied to a mix of A&F and economics courses, hoping to reapply with a tailored ps next year

Ahhh that’s scary because I mentioned quite a bit of economics too (more than accounting)! I still haven’t heard back tho. Can I ask when you got your rejection (date/time) please? Good luck for next year, wishing you the best!

Hi! Is it okay if i ask what your gcse grades were?

So I wanted to apply for accounting and finance at LSE, but my subjects are maths, further maths and chemistry. LSE have said in their entry requirements that further maths is considered as a 4th subject but if taken as a 3rd, will be considered if you have maths, further maths and an essay subject. I emailed them my situation but all they said was that there's no set subject combination and that applications are considered holistically. Given the course has such a low acceptance rate, I'm thinking to apply for finance instead but then again, my PS won't be tailored since all my other courses are A & F. I'm not sure now whether to apply to both A & F and finance at LSE or just one. (My predicted grades are A*A*A, gcses 7-9s). Please could someone advise, I'm very confused!

I think that because your third subject is further maths and you don’t do an essay based subject with it, you may be placed at a disadvantage and you may not seem as competitive as compared to others. For you now, its the case where you have got to decide whether your willing to ‘give up’ your personal statement because it is not tailored to the course by applying to finance, but having good subject combinations. Or, you have to give up the competitiveness of your subject combinations by applying to a&F. I think for lse, the personal statement is like the most important thing, so i wouldnt recommend giving that up if i am honest- hence i think the best option would be to apply to a&f at lse rather than finace. Bare in mind you would be placed at a disadvantage due to your subject requirements. Its a bit of an unfortunate circumstance, because in both cases, finance and a&f you have some sort of disadvantage so i think its best for you to weigh up the risk. Theres a bigger risk on you having an untailored personal statement as many have been rejected on that basis. Also i would definitely not apply to two courses at the LSE because they have a policy in which if someone applies to two courses, they are guaranteed to get rejected from one of them, meaning it would be a waste of a ucas option. Idk if this helped but i tried my best to give you some advice based on what i know 😊

Honestly, you're right in terms of the most important thing for LSE pretty much is personal statement, and if I apply for finance, my PS won't be tailored at all. Another thing is that the finance intake ratio is 20:1 whilst A&F is 16:1, plus the grade requirements are lower. I honestly don't think I have much of a chance of getting in for A&F given my subject requirements but may asw try my luck. Thanks a lot for your advice, really appreciate it. Has anyone or does anyone know of someone who got in w the same A-levels as me?

No problem at all. I actually dont know anyone who got in with your subject choices, or any subject choices for that matter 🤣A great website i highly recommend is Chat University, which has an ‘offer database’. It shows people’s subject choices and A-level grades achieved and predicted of people who have previously got accepted into any course at any university. I definitely think you should check it out as u may find someone who has gotten in with your subject choices. It also has a lot of other great resources
