Open University Geology Degree?

Hi there,

I am really (really) interested in looking at a Geology degree via the Open University.

My only real issue is that the degree isn't accredited (as others such as the Geography course are).
Digging into this a little - I read some things that pointed towards this maybe being due to the lack of fieldwork (as a remote degree).

I did find a group (OUGS - The Open University Geological Society) that run field trips and cool things.
Ultimately though - I guess I really want advice on how an employer (in a relevant field) might view the degree.

Would including that I had perhaps attended some extra-curricular field trips/workshops/conferences make any difference - or would the fact that the degree itself was online be too much of a deterrent.

birkbeck bsc geology is accredited, online options as well, looking at the research results it is ahead of the OU. That said there is nothing wrong with the OU course if you aren't concerned about accreditation. Did you go for it in the end?
