LSBU Institute of Health and Social Care Applicant Journey: Applying and Interviews

Hello Everyone! :tea:

UCAS has now opened for 2024 applications! Therefore, we wanted to give a rundown of the applicant journey for those interested in applying for one of our courses within the Institute of Health and Social Care at London South Bank University.

UCAS Application

Firstly, before submitting your UCAS application ensure you have included all level 2 and 3 qualifications and grades (achieved and outstanding). Without this information our admissions team are not able to consider your application fully and can lead to delays or an unsuccessful application.

The deadline for UCAS applications is the 31st January 6pm.

Interview

Once your eligibility has been assessed you may be invited to attend an interview with our academic panel, don’t panic we're going to give you a step by step on how this process works!

- You will receive an email to the email address listed on your UCAS application inviting you to book your interview (ensure to register with the same email it was sent to, this will avoid confusion later on!). Note: if there are not any slots available do not worry, you will just need to check back as slots are added regularly.

- Once your slot is booked you will receive a confirmation email with details of how to prepare and join your interview. You will be given a step-by-step PDF on how to attend your interview on MS Teams. Note: you will need to join through your dedicated link 5 minutes before your slot starts and have a form of photographic ID to hand.

- Each IoH course may differ slightly in their expectations, but generally the aim is to get to know you better and assess your suitability for the course through your personal qualities and skills whilst also considering these in line with the NHS Values. More information on preparing for your interview can be found on our dedicated webpage here.

- A decision will be submitted to UCAS typically within 14 working days following your interview.

After Receiving Offer

If your application is successful, you will receive details of your offer through UCAS. The below is what you can typically expect your offer to include:

- Any conditions of your offer (e.g. A Levels)
- RPL
- DBS and Occupational Health checks - information on these components will be emailed to you before the start of your course.

We've created a dedicated thread about RPLs, DBS and OH here!

Some Things to Remember

- If you have previously signed up to any LSBU mailing list with a different email address, we would strongly advise checking this email account in case there is an overlap in communications.

- If you are unable to attend your booked slot, please access your booking portal (accessible through your confirmation email) and cancel your booking. You will then need to re-book onto an available slot through your original booking link.

- If you have any questions about your application or interview, you can call or email our admissions team: [email protected] / +44 (0)20 7815 6100

If you have any further questions about this process or any advice please let us know in the replies!

All the best,
