hows university life?

Hi @Amih9 😀 University life is probably different and unique for every student!

One thing I remember about starting uni was that I was in a room filled with people who had all chosen to be there and had similar interests to me. I'd gone from forcing myself through subjects that I didn't love at school to sitting in a room I wanted to be in, and was meeting people who'd done and felt the exact same. You'll meet friends from your course who have similar academic interests, and you'll also meet friends from other areas if you get involved with clubs and societies.

I'd say University is much more independent than school/college study. You have to take ownership of your work and your study as there won't be teachers monitoring you like in the past. Uni students need to work towards deadlines both independently and in group projects to make sure everything is done on time 📚️ At times it can be stressful when you've deadlines coming up and exams to prepare for but if you're organised and set up a good study plan you'll be well prepared.

Uni life is pretty much what you make of it - you'll get to develop your knowledge in your chosen subject area and more, and develop key skills like communication, teamworking, leadership, problem solving etc. Uni can develop you both academically and personally 🙂

Are you thinking of going to University in the future? What subjects are you interested in?

There is a lot to adjust to when it comes to university life. This can feel exciting but it can feel a bit overwhelming with everything that's new. It can be tough to be away from family and people who know you well but as your fellow classmates are also experiencing many of the same things, it can make it easier to bond and to begin to form friendships,

It's great to be independent and to have more freedom, but you do need to be responsible for your studies and put in the time to go to the library, to check out resources, and to manage work. It is also useful to try and have days for grocery shopping, laundry, societies etc so that you can establish a bit of routine which can help you feel more settled.

Uni is a unique opportunity to find out more about yourself and to be challenged by the people you meet, to think about what's important to you, what you want in life and what you want to achieve as you begin your career journey. It can be a great time of growth as a person, if you make the most of it!

Hope that helps,

Hi there

University life is quite a shift from A levels. In particular, you are given more freedom and responsibility in how you arrange your time. You can decide when to study, rest, socialise.

Whilst the University experience differs for everyone, you will have the chance to gain a lot of independence and pick up a lot of new skills.

If there are any questions in particular you are interested in about University, I am happy to answer them.

Hi @Amih9 ,

University life is very different to A levels and it's hard to find something similar to compare it to as it's such a unique experience!

It's a great experience- you get to move out and be independent, cooking for yourself, cleaning and washing. It teaches you a lot of life skills and if you live with friends this is also such a new and fun experience.
The work can be a lot but it is usually fun as it is a subject that you have chosen and so has everybody else. It's not like A levels where you have to pick three, you get to choose one thing that you are really interested in and learn a lot about it in depth.

You get lots of chances to make friends, whether this be in your accommodation, your course or through different societies. There are also lots of opportunities for nights out or if this isn't your thing, then people are aways up for going for food, or going shopping.

With societies, there are lots of different ones to suit everybody's interests. This is a really good way to start something new and make some friends!

I hope this helps,
