Does choosing a more specific course increase chances of acceptance

Would it be better to choose a Business course or Economics and Marketing course in terms of acceptance. Would the Economics and Marketing be less competitive? Or does it just depend on the Uni? I'm just wondering if my chances would be higher if I picked a more specific course?

Not necessarily. The more niche course may have a much smaller cohort for example.
