No credit check bank for student loan?

Hi, I'm going to Uni in September and I need any kind of debit or current account to receive my maintenance loan but I am currently blacklisted from a bank for doing something silly last year (don't ask, I was young an gullible)
Long story short, I won't be able to pass any credit checks from a bank until may 2017 so I need any kind of bank account that I can open that won't check my credit history.

So far I've tried to open an account with Natwest and Lloyd's TSB and they both declined my application.

any advice would be appreciated, I don't need overdraft or any of the bonus jazz u get with high street banks, just a debit card with my name on it.

The Barclays Cash Card account doesn't do a credit check and gives you a Visa Debit card. However you don't get a cheque book or overdraft, so you have to be in credit at all times. You'll need to manage your funds very carefully or risk the account being closed.

Gets a thumbs-up from MoneySavingExpert, which is usually a good guide:

Oops!

The other one mentioned by MoneySavingExpert is the Co-Op Cashminder account, which also comes with a debit card (but again, no cheque book or overdraft).

Have you tried a Halifax Card Cash account? Pretty sure you don't need a credit check for one of them.

It's simple, pay it into my account and I will give you the money minus a small handling fee of lets say 95%

worst comes to worst im sure it can pay into a parents account.

No wouldn't work because they're plainly not a student.

Be glad you can still just about get in while there are still one or two banks that allow no credit check. In the dystopian future we are heading towards/basically already in there will be nothing like that

Co-Operative do basic Bank Accounts. Another option is to get a Gold Cash Plus card. No credit check required to open this account. It is like a credit card and bank account combined, as it is a MasterCard, but you have a bank account style number and sort code, so SFE will be able to pay your money into it.

The way SF's payment system works necessitates an account in the student's name. The identifier sent along with the payment to the bank has the account details + the student's name: if these don't match, the payment normally fails, except under specific predefined circumstances (student is under 18, cannot sign a credit agreement might be the only reason I think).
pleeeeeeeeeease tell us why you are blacklisted
Try the Nationwide FlexAccount but asking for an overdraft of zero?
Sorry to hijack your thread but what makes you fail a credit check? You've got me worried now  what about if you've been in debt before - earlier this year I overestimated how much money was in my account still and ended up in -£20. Paid it back of course, but will it affect me at all when getting a student account? :s-smilie:

Paying bills late on a regular basis, CCJs and being Bankrupt is what cocks up your credit rating generally. Different institutions have different methods of doing credit scores though.

Eek. Well I'm with HSBC. I hope I'll be alright, cos I'll almost definitely need an overdraft for uni.
Unless you have got credit and defaulted on it and/or go into unauthorised overdraft with you're bank a lot, then you should be fine. In 2000 you just had to turn up at a bank with some ID to get a student account with a big fat £1500 overdraft, chequebook etc. times have changed now though.

No, you should be fine if you paid it back, basically I am blacklisted so my credit it is as good as a coffin at the minute. There are ways to build ur credit back up but I plan to do that after uni when I have a career
