Applying for student finance based on household income form

If I am applying for maintenance loan do I need to fill out "Applying for student finance based on household income form" as well?

It says"Complete this form if you want to change your student finance application to be based on your household income"

I don't want to complete this form and send it out and then my tuition fee getting reduced. If I fill this out and send it, will it affect my tuition fee or just my maintenance loan?

Hi there, The form is only to reassess your Maintenance Loan funding, this will not affect the Tuition Fee funding awarded. Thanks, Angela

Hi there, you only need to send the PFF2 form and this form: https://media.slc.co.uk/sfe/2324/ft/sfe_nmt_to_mt_form_2324_o.pdf if you wish to be assessed for the maximum available to you (and you're under 25 or living with a partner). Thanks, Jason

Thank you so much
I also sent the household income form. Does this mean I will get a much less amount? 🥺

I’m a bit worried now

It would be based on your parents earnings. Just to confirm, you've attached the 22/23 form. When did your academic year start? Thanks, Jason
I filled out all 3 form (2 u mentioned and 1 I put about household income thing)

Pff2 assesses my parents earning anyway so will me applying for the household income change the amount I get? Sorry I’m just really worried I sent wrong forms 🥺

I’m currently in uni and the transport is very expensive which is why I am applying. When I was applying for my tuition fee for this year I didn’t apply for maintenance because I thought it was just for people who live in accom which I don’t

I just started uni this sep

No. The household income will ensure you're assessed for the maximum. So it's 3 forms in total. Just ensure it's the 23/24 form and not the 22/23 you've linked above. This will then take 6-8 weeks as an estimated timescale to process from when we receive the forms. Thanks, Jason

Oh okay I did fill in the right one, thank god
Thank you so much
I contacted sfe and they sent me 3 forms so I just filled them out and submitted it. The one above was just an example of what I was referring to
Also is there any specified things u can only use maintenance loan for? I don’t live in accom so it’s just for textbooks, travel, and uni expenses…

You're welcome.

Regarding the maintenance loan it's used for whatever you wish. Some students use this for travel, clothes, food etc. But it is entirely up to you how you spend this money. Thanks, Jason

Thank you so much once again

How long does it take to process? 15 working days?

We advise 20 working days as an estimated timescale. You can track your application with our processing timescale via here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/sfe-current-application-timescales or via your account here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a4p4IP1lzo Thanks, Jason

Hiiii,
Small question. When you are getting maintenance loan paid to ur account, what sort of card do you need to have? debit, credit...? do you need to specifically open a student bank account to get maintenance loan?

I remember when I was filling out the form it said to give details of bank account where it accepts credits or something

Hi cherryhitchkins,

It needs to be a UK based bank account that you use. It doesn't need to be a student account.

Thanks, Clare
