Why do a lot of guys stare at me as they walk past with their girlfriend (i'm a guy too)? It only happens when they're with a girl

Maybe they feel challenged by you (this is most likely to be appearance, since you're not likely to know each other).

I get this a lot.
But the guys actually treat me really well, like open doors for me even when I'm like 5 metres away.
I find it so strange. They initiate a convo with me swell like "sup dude, you from around here"
If I'm honest, i think its because I'm living in the same flat as their girlfriend, if they're nice to me i won't be likely to make any moves.

Probably because they're thinking: "What is this weird guy doing looking my way so much? Is he interested in me? Should I let him know I'm not gay or just stare him down and walk off?"
