How to deal with someone messing you about

So I was at a wedding yesterday and when I first walked in I seen 'Jay' sitting with his uncle, I shook his hand.

5 hours later, Jay asked me 'I want to talk to you', I was surprised suddenly he wanted to talk to me, when didn't he talk to me when I seen him 5 hours earlier. He asked me to come here and said

"someone has invited you for a wedding" "how can I get your mobile number" why does he need my mobile number? Why can't he ask me for my landline number or give a email of the invitation or ask the person who's invited take a photo of the wedding invitation and then send a photo to my phone?

Then his friend who's called "d" sitting next to him said "someone has invited you to a wedding".

Jay went on to further ask how can I get your mobile number?

I feel they are messing me about and also they have malicious intentions, since I'm on Facebook and perhaps, put my mobile number on a escort site with my photo? Or do some prank.

What are your thoughts? If he's going to invite me to a wedding, tell my dad, not me.

Hmm... It does sound a bit fishy tbh, I would refrain from giving out personal information like that. Clarify the fact that you may have been invited to a wedding with his uncle maybe?

So I told my uncle what they said and they said "if our family don't have a wedding, why are they lying"?I know this is immature to say the lying part, however, if they chat crap to me and mess me around, why not mess them around.

Jay also wanted my mobile number, it kept being persistent with it.

Jay kept saying "So where can I get your mobile number from", he kept persisting with it.

Anyone? What do you make of this? Especially when they said, can you give me your mobile number, where can I get your mobile number from?

Do you guys think they are telling the truth or not? From what you've read so far? It seems fishy he kept asking me for my mobile number.
Who is this someone who has supposedly invited you to a wedding? And if I want someone's mobile number, I'd ask for it.
They are obviously liars, my friend told me they came to him to get my mobile number. If their was a wedding, where is the invitation? What date is it on?Do you think I should go to the police and tell them I'm unsure what they will do with my mobile number?
And are the police going to do? Just ignore them.
