Atheist joining the hindu society

So I went to the fresher fair today to join societies, wasn't planning on joint the hindu society but I spoke to this guy who was trying to sign me up and I was like I'm not actually hindu(I'm indian) and he was like me neither and that you don't have to be hindu to join. He said he had Pakistanis and Scottish people join. So I signed up even though I'm atheist. Is that weird?

It's unlikely, Hindus don't tend to protelyse  They probably just want more people to join! You don't have to partake in the religious stuff anyway or at least don't at my university's Hindu soc

So what's with the pub?:hmmmmw:
The food is going to be at the student union anyway for a meet and greet
I don't see the point being a member of a society if you won't be engaged in the activities. :bebored:

The 1st few weeks you may do some type of activities etc.... but that's only to hook people in and gain members. Once they have the members your most likely going to be meeting at pub and just socialise with each other.

Societies like this was mainly created so people from the same background can meet and become friends etc....

 Haha I meant the religious stuff isn't a big part of Hindu socs anyway, in my experience, compared to say the I-Soc etc. So hopefully you'll enjoy it!

There should also be an Indian soc, check that out if you want to meet people with a similar/same background. Also the Bollywood soc :colondollar:

Hinduism is massive, you don't even need to believe in god to be Hindu. There's entire schools of thought that reject the notion of gods or objective morality
I joined The Church of England even though I'm a Pastafarian.
