URGENT: I've got pain in my left temple and every time I cough and stuff it hurts...

I have had a cold since Friday and I have had headaches since around Monday.

Yesterday evening I started to experience pain near my left temple (which doesn't seem like a normal headache) and I still have it now.

Aside from this, I was coughing and experienced breathlessness but I had some asthma spray for that.

What's happening?

this is expert advice:

When to worry about a headache

You can take care of many types of headaches by yourself, and your doctor can give you medication to control most of the tougher ones. But some headaches call for prompt medical care. Here are some warning signs:

Headaches that first develop after age 50

A major change in the pattern of your headaches

An unusually severe "worst headache ever"

Pain that increases with coughing or movement

Headaches that get steadily worse

Changes in personality or mental function

Headaches that are accompanied by fever, stiff neck, confusion, decreased alertness or memory, or neurological symptoms such as visual disturbances, slurred speech, weakness, numbness, or seizures

Headaches that are accompanied by a painful red eye

Headaches that are accompanied by pain and tenderness near the temples

Headaches after a blow to the head

Headaches that prevent normal daily activities

Headaches that come on abruptly, especially if they wake you up

Headaches in patients with cancer or impaired immune systems

the doctor will be delighted that you are getting it sorted. good luck !
Any other symptons?

Is it more of a throbbing/pulsing pain opposed to a constant?
Sounds like the sort of thing I get when I have a migraine.

Hope it clears up soon though, headaches are the worst.

Thanks!

I am in the latter stages of a cold and the pain came around yesterday but it could be a sinus headache which can be serious. It is constant and I can feel it more when I cough but when I blow my nose, it doesn't become more painful.
Call your GP surgery and ask to speak to a doctor - they'll probably call you back later in the afternoon.

If you're really worried or aren't registered with a GP then call 111 and get some proper advice.

I agree with the others and think it'd be best if you visit your doctor if thats the case then.

It's eased now. If anything arises within the next 24-48 hours, I'm off to the doctors.
