Mature Student

Hi,

I am 24 years old and have a place at university to start this year. I have lived with my partner for nearly year, do I need my parents or my partners details in regards to applying for maintenance loan?

Thanks in advance

Hi Kamwrlw5,

To be classed as an independent student you must be,

are 25 or over before the start of the academic year

are under 25 and married/divorced before the start of the academic year

have care of a child on the first day of the academic year

are married or in a civil partnership before the start of the academic year

have no living parents

are irreconsiliable estranged from their parents

have been the subject of a care order

cannot find their parents or it's not reasonably practical to get in touch with them

If you don't fit the above criteria, your application will be based on your parents household income.

Thanks

Catherine
