Has anyone used smart pig loans?
Hi, just wanted to know what the application process is like. I was hoping to use an overdraft from a student bank account for some uni shopping but since my provisional license (yes im 18 and only applying for id now... what an idiot i know) is still on its way and can take up to another two weeks to arrive, opening a student account is too late for uni shopping. Smart pig seems too good to be true for no need of an ID. I have a student entitlement letter, will be able to pay back with my maintenance loan and have a debit card. Will they ask for a photo of some photo ID after i apply?

Some banks seem to accept the UCAS status codes as proof of ID... Nationwide did for me.
As for Smart Pig... standard, exploitative, scummy payday loan company. If you want ****, expensive debt, go ahead and use them...

Someone told me the same with HSBC and when i applied in branch i was asked for photo ID, i'll call nationwide in the morning to find out though!

Nationwide was from applying online. Not sure what their policy is when applying in a branch...

So when you applied online they didn't ask for you to come in to show proof of ID or anything? How long ago was it that you got your student account? (thanks for replying twice btw)

About 3 weeks ago. During the process it said I needed to take in ID to a branch... but then I got an email saying my account was fully open. When I rang them to check, the guy said my ID had been confirmed. The only thing it could have been is the UCAS thing, as I didn't provide anything else.
