I have tried to look for you but the job section of the site is down for maintenance!

Would you be open to looking at other places in and around your area, I did a quick search for the postcode of W12 for Christmas jobs and thousands came back.

When you say you have been unable to find work, does this mean you're making applications and not hearing back or you have not been able to find vacancies?

Do you know how to get a job around East London? I've applied for so many in the past 2 months (at least 8 applications). I also applied regularly during May and June, all largely in retail. I have only received 1 job interview in Costa at the end of September which I never got into.

I'm turning 18 this month, and have Thursdays to Sundays free and flexible (barring a Career Ready programme in college, though that's largely a longer term thing for careers, and is not every week), and I'm ending Level 3 BTEC Business in 2021. I've got little money and the Bank of Mum ends next August. Sorry to rant, but I need some help! :smile:

Hi there,

When it come to experience, this doesn't necessarily mean that you only need to have examples of experience from jobs; examples of experience can be anything that shows skills from school and in your everyday life. This could be any achievements you've gained, anything you've helped out with in and outside of school hours.

For example, if someone has helped a family member with homework, this could show skills such as being approachable, having knowledge of a certain subject, being patient and listening and paying close attention to detail.

I would suggest thinking of things in your everyday life and seeing how you can pull up examples of what skills you've displayed. When applying for and going for an interview for Christmas roles, use these as examples to show you have knowledge without having a previous job and explain how you're willing to keep learning and gaining experience with the employer.

It can be difficult when applying for jobs but the important thing to keep in mind is not to give up.

Networking is also an important part of job searching; you might find that even doing things such as asking family members and friends about opportunities might open up opportunities as this way you'e letting people know that you're looking for a job so they can keep you in mind if they find out about any jobs. It might be worth firstly to ask those employers for some feedback on your application. This might help you to understand ways to improve your application. You've mentioned that you've recently applied for a bakery assistant role; you could look into the job description of the advert and useful some of the descriptive words they use and how you're willing to learn these on the job if you can't find any examples.
