Changing Audition Date

You've already told the university that you're on holiday. They've said tough luck. Contacting them again isn't going to do anything - you've either got to go to the audition or forget about this university. Its that simple. Your girlfriend doesn't sound overly worth it if she is causing a fuss about something that is out of your control. Regardless of how much you ponder it or think about it, you either go to the audition or you don't and if you do go, your girlfriend will just have to get over it. Its how relationships work - give and take.

However, from your discussion of this and all of the excuses you're coming up with, you don't sound overly bothered so you may as well just enjoy your holiday with your girlfriend and cancel the audition.

For Heaven's sake, just do us all a favour and go to the audition. Dump the girlfriend - if she's too wet to look after herself for 5 hours, you can do better. Leeds C of M is dead easy to find - get a map of Leeds - it's 10 minutes walk from the station.
Either that, or you can keep harping about being hard done to and reapply next year, paying £20k more in the process.

Hate to sound nasty, and I may well have misunderstood what you said. But whether or not your girlfriend could be without you/you could be without your girlfriend for 10 hours shouldn't factor into the decision at all. This is something that decides what the next 3 years of your life will be. You shouldn't reschedule unless you absolutely have to, it makes it look like you aren't taking it seriously (only exceptions to this IMO would be death of a family member or similar).

Aside from losing a day of holiday with your girlfriend, what would be different by doing it a week later? Would you still have to make the same journey?
