Maintenance loan and grant - summer payment

Based on my income, I received a summer payment for both my maintenance loan and grant from student finance for year 1 of uni.

However, I'm not returning for year 2 of uni. I didn't want to anyway, but this was made impossible by not securing the grades for second year.

Does the above mean I'll have to pay back the loan and grant asap? It was a summer payment and connected with year 1, but I only met the backend of year 1 and not the beginning of year 2 in terms of the definition of a 'summer' payment.

Maybe, they will send you a letter if they do so. Although even then you will be able to work out some sort of payment plan with them to make it easier on you.

Yeah you'll probably have to pay it back, they will understand if you can't pay it once though and will probably let you pay back a certain amount each month or whatever.
