SSG, can't prove I'm Housing Benefit eligible.

Hello all,
I'm applying for a Maintenance Loan and Special Support Grant.

I'm receiving Income Support and Carers Allowance.
Student Finance are requesting proof that I'm eligible for housing benefit, which I am.

Unfortunately the council will not supply me with any form of proof, as I'm living with my parent, whom I'm a carer for.

Is there any way I can provide proof that I am eligible for housing benefit in this situation?

Hi,

Unfortunately, we would need to see that you yourself were entitled to housing benefit while still a student. The letter from the council would need to be dated at least one month after the start of your course, so we wouldn't be able to award it straight away. If you, yourself, are not claiming H.B or are not eligible for it while studying then unfortunately you wouldn't receive the special support grant. You would however still receive the maintenance grant as an alternative.
