to think just a bit ago I was mocking statisticians. how the tables have turned.

Left me somewhat dissatisfied though. Definitely want to go back to Queen's at open day for that library. But someone will probably want to go Trinity and pester me to apply there  Don't your school send a decent number anyway?

They (well, the liaison) offered to send med students down to my school for the aspiring medics. (they said that only st. olaves have ever asked lol) would be great to get mathmos down.

I like it much better this way :yep:
Yeah I can understand that! Rushing through isn't really a good way to see any uni. Hmmm me thinks she might. Maybe you need bribing based on further maths studying
Yeah my school send quite a few (I think my teacher was saying 47 have an interview this year... Iirc) They don't organise trips there though which is a shame. My old school has had the sixth form go to like 3 different unis already since September!
That would be cool yeah. I suspect my school will get some of their ex students down to talk to us for moving on day when that comes around. I do know one who came from my school got 4A*s and has gone off the Oxford to do maths though so I'd just like to copy him please... If only it was that simple!

Hate the earlier topics though. I don't think you're the same in that.

There was no-one there either. It was a few interview candidates and the odd student in the library. Outside there were swarms of tourists (overwhelmingly from one part of the world, and colleges have quite a problem with them) that blocked the minibus as it was trying to park, but that was about all the life there. Even if I apply to Girton she'd probably still track me down, so it's hopeless

My friends seem to be warming up to applying to cam which is nice.

Wow. At my school it has never been more than one or two per year, if that. I saw two interviewees from my school at Queen's (weird coincidence), but I wouldn't be surprised if they were the only two out of ~120. I think they're more arts students though. God, and I thought this cam trip was pretty early o.o

Well, my old maths teacher (who unfortunately left :frown:), was an ex-student, relatively young and did some MEng at Oxford, so he would have been pretty good for questions. I think he got replaced by my current stats teacher which is frankly a ****ing pisstake. The other might actually come back to give some advice... he got into oxford to read physics last year and I actually saw him walking about the school a few days ago to say hi etc. I wouldn't like to end up at the other place though. Out of cambridge or oxford, it's almost certainly going to be cambridge.
also

wrote the first history essay I'd consider to be alright (Churchill as a wartime prime minister) and got 26/30 which would be an A. If I can continue at around that level, I should be fine with history, though I'll go for the highest I can. (someone wants me to go for the A*)

a physics projectiles test was delayed unfortunately. Just as well because of that materials one.

I don't find the earlier topics massively interesting, but I'm not especially bothered by them. Free marks from my point of view

Well term has finished  Interviews are pretty quiet so you wouldn't necessarily notice them. It's nicer when it's quiet usually...although rushing through it won't help that effect. Wondering through the college gardens in summer when it's empty is lovely! Probably yeah

That's nice  Half my friends don't have a clue if they even want to go to uni so the conversation doesn't really come up very often around here.

Your school is a little smaller though...there's like 1.8k in my year and it's a top college so the results are great and they're well practised about getting people into Oxbridge with various programs and stuff. We think they're trying to show off to the year 11s since applications were really down last year so they want to put stuff in the newsletter about all the cool places they're going to bring in more applications this year...

Ahhh that's a shame :yep: Sounds like there are some people who are helpful though if they're around even if your stats teacher definitely isn't!
That's even more of a shame....both are great unis though (unless you want to escape a certain someone, in which case Oxford would be the clear winner )

Well, it would be free marks until I **** them up. I prefer harder papers since I'm far less prone to mistakes. I'm sure I won't have that issue at uni.

Yeah, I didn't know that until I went. Though I guess that's probably why we were invited down. It would have been nicer to see some sign of life.

Most of my friends are either going to be going to uni or failing that taking a gap year, doubt there's much question with them  Their areas of specialism aren't really suited to vocational pathways.

Wow, my year is a fifteenth the size of yours o.O My school isn't terribly experienced, they normally only have a handful of As, never mind A*s. (that said, there were 4*s in maths and 3*s in fm last year) Though, being cynical, I'm not sure if that's because of the ability of the students. The general trend with my school is above average GCSEs and average to slightly below average A-level grades because of the number of Ds/Es. The trip was supposed to take people who had a "reasonable" chance of getting in, though there were some questionable faces. (I feel like such a ****) If more than one of us gets in, it will probably set a school record of some sort.

I still have certain ways to troll her.

Ahhh I like the easy questions since they buy me time for the longer questions! I'm sure you won't either
Yeah 8 week terms mean they finish either end of November or beginning of December! I only noticed as we have a couple of people at Oxford from my church so they were back last week
I have friends doing all sorts. Everything from basically the same as me to graphics, media and business! Some of them know they want to go to uni, but even some of the ones doing subjects which wouldn't naturally be vocational aren't sure if they're gonna go to uni or not. I suspect a lot of them will in the end though
Yeah my school is massive! They have the full range of results mostly, although certain subjects are very much one sided (eg. Computing grades as almost all Cs and Ds while fm is naturally much higher since they heavily suggest you drop it if you start failing). That's not ideal with the downward trend. With all your self studying though I'm sure you can manage it  Makes your profile look all the better for unis as well

tl;dr

****ed a physics test on materials that should be easy. Need someone to nag at me over christmas to get self-studying. If I get into Cam I won't be able to avoid dynamics and relativity in part IA so I kind of need to start liking physics at some point.

Did not **** up a fm test that was piss easy. (found the MS and it was probably 30/30) More worried about not getting full on the single pure test I have tomorrow through embarrassing mistakes.

Started on S3. Created a section for stats on my blog. Hilarity ensues.

Realised that this journey will be a battle to not **** up physics even though I should really find it easy. Depression ensues.

Single teacher was ill today (probably tomorrow too) so I could do my own thing without being judged. Happiness ensues.
