Question about drama schools

When I finish school I was thinking of applying to drama schools to do a foundation, either ALRA or East 15. Has anybody done these courses, and are they worth doing? I hope to get on a three year course eventually.
I think the foundation courses are good but expensive as there is no funding. Also it's no guarantee you will get a place on the BA course afterwards. My friend did the ALRA foundation course 2016/17 and was one of only two people on the course who got offers from other drama schools for degrees the following year. ALRA took none of their foundation students last year. I would get as much experience as possible and apply for the 3 year courses at your selected drama schools. For many of them you will automatically get considered for the foundation anyway and you can make your decision if you receive any offers. Obviously with thousands more applicants than places it's extremely competitive and some people apply several times. Good luck!
