how does the overall grading system work?

So you can get in each unit a fail/pass/merit/distinction/distinction*, you get points for whichever you get and then they are all added together to give you an overall grade such as MM for a diploma or D*DD for extended diploma. You have to at least pass every unit in order to get the qualification otherwise it’s a big fail but don’t worry you can do improve your work or retake exams (if your course has one). Might be good for you to attend a college open day to find out specific information about your course
