The Student Room Group

How important are non-academic achievements?

I'm a first year A-Level student and I'm beginning to consider applying to Oxbridge. I'm worried my personal statement won't stand out enough to make me a candidate (even just for an interview) as I've barely any extra curricular activities, hobbies or anything that makes me remotely interesting. I work a part-time job and don't like to get involved in student council and things like that. If I don't find anything to put on it, will I be cast aside? Thanks!
what subject would you be applying to?

Are there any documentaries you could watch or books you could read? I can't think of any relevant work experience, but someone at your school should be able to help you find something if you wanted.
Not very.
