parents DONT want me to study medicine

i want to study medicine but i believe i dont have the full potential to become a doctor. but im still giving it a shot by applying to foundation programe as i do meet the requirements grade wise. have started work experience and volunteering. they knew about my desicion to study medicine and did not say anything until now about how they dont want me to study medicine as it will take too long and i will be concentrating on work too much. they want me to study pharmacy instead. i am so confused what do i do, thank you.
I say do you! If they are worried about it taking too long, pharmacy takes equally as long because it’s 4 years for an MSci and then a year of pre-reg and some medical schools are 5 years so it’s the same amount study wise. Working and specialising requires more time in medicine I know but if you qualify for foundation year go ahead! You have nothing to lose and if you don’t get into medicine, apply to pharmacy as an insurance or back up. All the best

It's your future, go for it. Bet you anything once you qualify they'll be the first to want on demand medical advice

Do the foundation and keep your options open by applying to pharmacology for the degree. I'm a parent and I haven't always made the best decisions for my kids, but they haven't been so headstrong. If you really want to do medicine then you should give it a really good shot. Good luck.
