I can't find a hotel in the UK that allows under 18s to stay unaccompanied.
Hotels like Travelodge and Premier Inn used to allow 16+ as I used to use them a lot when I was 17 when I was traveling for my apprenticeship but their policies have changed since then.
That being said, I was never asked for proof of age or ID whenever I have checked into a hotel so I suppose you could 'get away with it' but if they do check, you might run the risk of forfeiting your room without a refund.
I guess it's because you can't enter a contract if you are a minor or something along those lines.
