Why is it that we get taxed and have to pay national insurance when working?
We are working for ourselves aren't we? So why should we have to give some of the salary away? Why does it go automatically if you earn above a certain amount?

This surely can't be a serious question. Unless those who earn money pay some of that money to the government, how would the government pay for the services we all rely on: the NHS, the police, the fire service, the armed forces, schools etc. etc?
