Wrong Student Finance Plan

Hello,

I went to unit between 2016 and 2020, which automatically puts me in Payment Plan 2. This has a higher threshold for repayments than Payment Plan 1.

In March 2022 I received a letter saying that I would be starting to repay my loan from April 2021 and that I was placed on payment plan 1. I immediately called SF thinking it was a typo, but that turned into a complicated mess and the explanation I received was "it shouldn't happen, it's like a computer tells you 1+1=3". Since then I have had to call every month for refunds. I have been in contact with SF, with payroll from my past and current jobs, with HR, I provided my PAYE number 3 times but a year later this is still going on. Nobody seems to know who is responsible for the payment plan, and now I am getting very stressed. I am still waiting on my refund from my last 2 payslips and with the cost of living crisis it's getting stressful.

I am thinking to get legal advice, since nobody knows who I should talk to, I keep being sent left and right. But before I do that, I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience and if anyone could clarify who is actually responsible for fixing this mess. My understanding was that payroll is responsible for this, but I communicated with them and nothing has changed. Any help or suggestion would be apreciayed.

Thank you for any advice with this!

Hello,

I have been in contact with SF repayment directly every month or so for the last year, as well as with HR and payroll, I still have not had an answer and the issue is ongoing. I really do need more help than re-doing the same things because I'm not getting anywhere :frown:
